Update from Mom 3/24 @ 6:30

Good Evening TEAM TOMMY,

First let me start off by saying HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY to Cody, please be safe tonight.

Tommy and I got good rest last night compared to the previous 5 nights. He was relaxed enough for me to put all his bi~valves and AFO’s on and did not mind them being on. We started out the day with PT and trying out some shower chairs to decide which would be best for him at home. And then it was on to have his CT scan done over at Memorial Herman. We returned within about 45 minutes or so and had a wonderful surprise, Craig and Star were here waiting on us. I did not know he was coming and I am so glad he decided to take a break for a couple of hours to come visit Tommy, he has not seen him in 2 weeks or so. I know he was very glad to see him even though it was a very short visit as he had to head back and get back to work on Tommy’s room, he deserved the break. After they left we had OT and just worked on stretching out Tommy’s muscles/limbs.

Dr. Shah came by and visited while Craig was here and informed us she does not feel comfortable releasing Tommy this week, so he will stay at TIRR till at the very least next Wednesday, but possibly 3 weeks if insurance approves it. But we are all very grateful to have another week, so we can all breath a little easier now. She also let us know she has decided to try a new medication on Tommy that is administered via pump (which will be surgically inserted). They will first give Tommy injections in his spine to see how he responds to the medication, if it seems to benefit him they will then schedule to have a pump installed. There is a lot of talk about this drug (Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy) around here as it is commonly used for spasticity and tone. I think Tommy would really benefit from this. There still is a lot of work to be done on “tweaking” his medications to get the right combination so lets all pray that they are able to get that accomplished before they send him home (whenever that may be).

I am hoping all of you are able to navigate around the new website O.K., I know it is different but we should still have all the same features (just maybe in different places). You are still able to send messages/comments to Tommy or you can just email them to him @ tommy@tommybeavers.info. I know he would love to keep hearing from all of you.

I will be heading home tonight to help Craig and be with Brandi so you shoud be hearing from Billy or Sarah for the next few nights.

KEEP PRAYING !!!!!!!!!!!!

We love you all,

Jill & family
