Update from Mom 3/23 @ 6:30 p.m.
Good afternoon TEAM TOMMY,
Tommy had a soso night last night, only sleeping about 75% of the night and not finally going to sleep till around 1 a.m.
My sister Barbara came and sat with Tommy and I so could run around and check on the millions of things that need to be done to prepare us for taking Tommy home. In OT today we received Tommy’s loaner wheel chair, this is the one we will take home with us until his custom ride (LOL!) is complete. It was nice to see Tommy in a chair more appropriate for his size, although the loaner does not have all the bells and whistles his will ultimately have it is a much welcome improvement. In PT we worked on transfers from his wheelchair into my car to determine if it will work safely. I think it is safe to say a conversion will be needed or we will be looking into purchasing a handicap vehicle. Other than that we had a day spent cleaning Tommy up, he did not do well with any feedings or medications given to him. After 4 times of this happening the doctors decided to order a X~Ray of his tummy to make sure everything is going where it should be and a CT Scan of his head to make sure everything looks O.K. after his new shunt was put in. The X~Ray showed his bowels are not cleaning out like they should be so we will be spending the evening getting that all taken care of. The CT Scan is scheduled at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
The Case Manager and Social Worker here at TIRR have been working with Dr. Shah trying to get his stay here extended for medical reasons. All this has to be proven to the insurance people, and let me tell you they are not the easiest people to get along with. So lets all pray they agree to extend Tommy’s time here. I know Craig would be so relieved to have the extra time to get his room/bathroom 100% complete and functional. I also want to Thank Keith McMullen (Craig’s friend),Kenney and Richard Martin (family friends).Jason Bauer(Tommy’s uncle) for pitching in and helping Craig get some of the work done, their work is much appreciated. Richard (of Martin Plumbing) is doing all the plumbing and has donated his services to get this project complete. THANKS GUYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You pretty much have the latest on everything and I will let you know of any new changes as they happen.
Please keep praying !!!!
We love you all,
Jill & family
