TEAM TOMMY,
We are patiently waiting for the transfer to TIRR which is scheduled for 3:30 this afternoon. Tommy did not sleep much last night, so he is resting peacefully now. The pediatric team came in this morning to check on Tommy, say their goodbyes and see if we had any last minute questions. So, for now we wait.

Well, the much anticipated meeting with the doctors is over and questions have been answered. The neurologist said that all the test results are in and they DO NOT think Tommy has vasculitis. They think the narrowing they found in his vessels is from either scar tissue in his brain or a plaque buildup from lack of circulation. They plan to try to treat the issue with an aspirin...

Well we had a fairly decent night (I could have used a little more sleep, but I am geting used to 2-4 hrs sleep)…I am just s glad he is doing O.K., that is all that matters.
We had several Docs come in this morning (not sure who they all were), his fluid came back negative for a infection..THANK GOD !!!!!! He does have some abnormalities in some of his blood...

The preliminary report delivered today was not good. I pray to god that he is going to be O.K., I know all of our hearts will be aching tremondously today. They report he has had 2 strokes and there is more damage to his brain, and his ventricle’s are smaller. They will be doing a EEG and a Lumbar Puncture sometime today to give us more information. It has been a long day of hurry up and wait here at Hermann. Tommy was scheduled for a MRI and a MRA at 8:30 this morning and it turned in to 3:30 this afternoon. It was after 5:30 when we got back to the room and I am being told that getting results tonight are very slim. I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to see what the test results hold.

Here is the latest. Tommy’s CT following the adjustment to his shunt showed two lesions in his brain. When the doctors at TIRR saw this they immediately called the neurosurgeon and had him read the results. The decision from all of the above was to move Tommy back to Hermann immediately. I finally got settled in. I came from work and relieved Jill and Brandi so they could get home and get some much needed rest. Tommy is looking great. He is actually relaxed enough that I was able to get all splints and bivalves on. It looks like it might be a peaceful night.
